Liverpool are now the “prime favourites” to sign RB Salzburg youngster Patson Daka, according to media reports on Thursday.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are also keen on the striker, but it is Jurgen Klopp’s men who are leading the chase for his signature.

The 21-year-old impressed the Reds first hand when he scored twice in a recent 2-2 friendly draw in Austria.

The young forward has already notched 34 goals and 15 assists in 83 appearances for the Austrian outfit.

Daka is also no stranger to pressure, having been asked to fill Erling Haaland’s boots when he left for Borussia Dortmund back in January.

The forward’s current contract expires in 2024, which means that Liverpool will have to splash out to get their man.

However, Daka’s market value is around the €20million (£18m) mark – a figure that could turn out to be a bargain.

The Salzburg star would be an immediate understudy to Roberto Firmino in the central striking role.

Manchester United are expected to further beef up their squad with an exciting double deal from Spain.

Fresh after landing Donny van de Beek, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now reportedly looking to stars from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

As per Don Balon, United have been given the green light to sign Ousmane Dembele for a reduced €70m. The World Cup winner has struggled to find his best form at Barcelona since joining from Dortmund in 2017.

Dembele was bought for an initial €105m but can leave if his asking price is met. Now the Spanish source claims Solskjaer and Co have submitted an offer to bring the player to Old Trafford.

Dembele has had his issues with injuries, but when at his best, the deal could prove a bargain. Hopes of landing Jadon Sancho appear to be fading fast and it’s reported that, privately, United have drawn up plans for alternatives.

Douglas Costa is another name on United’s radar. However, the €60m Juventus are asking has put United off, given his age.

Instead, a deal for Dembele looks far more appealing and it’s believed United are keen.

In addition, AS reports a ‘very interesting offer has arrived from Man Utd in recent days’ for Sergio Reguilon. The Real Madrid left-back shined during Sevilla’s run to Europa League glory while on loan at the Andalusian club.

However, Real do still plan to offload Reguilon this summer and are seeking €25m for the 23-year-old. However, the Spanish paper claims United’s offer is around €18m. The LaLiga champions are considering the proposal and are of the mind to accept.

United were on Wednesday linked with Jordi Alba amid claims Solskjaer wants an upgrade on Luke Shaw.

Manchester United are ready to relaunch their efforts to bring Kalidou Koulibaly to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Koulibaly is a man in demand this summer after Napoli finally decided to sell. A move to Manchester City looks to be on the cards, despite their acquisition of Nathan Ake.

However, their negotiations with Napoli have been delayed.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis claims the reason talks aren’t progressing quickly is because City are still bitter that the Serie A side sold Jorginho to Chelsea instead of them two years ago.

De Laurentiis told Canale 21 recently: “How can we have a normal and calm negotiation with Manchester City to sell Koulibaly?

“They won’t talk directly with us because of the Jorginho deal two years ago.”

Now that row appears to have opened the door for United.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, via the Daily Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is plotting to nab Koulibaly from under City’s noses.

The Italian football transfer expert claims that has given United a chance and they will launch a fresh bid to bring him to Old Trafford.

Koulibaly is thought to be on the market for around €75m (£68.2m) – and the fee will reel United in.

The Red Devils have a long-standing interest in the Senegal defender and believe he could form a fearsome partnership alongside Harry Maguire.

    United won’t stop there, either.

The Mirror also believes talks on a deal for Sergio Reguilon are slowly progressing and they claim the deal is currently being held up by Real Madrid’s insistence on a buy-back clause.

That has seen United open talks as well with the agent of Porto star Alex Telles. However, the Mirror claims Reguilon remains their top left-back target and a double deal could be concluded.

Arsenal plan to launch an opening bid of €30m for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has been monitored by the Gunners for some time. His impressive record of 66 goals in 130 Celtic appearances is said to have caught Mikel Arteta’s eye.

As per reports, Arsenal scouts observed Edouard in action for France U21s this week and they were not disappointed. Edoaurd now boasts a ridiculous 13 goals from eight appearances at U21 level.

Now reports in France, substantiated by the Daily Record, claim Arsenal plan to launch an opening of €30m offer for Edouard.

Arsenal reportedly have a decent shout of signing Edouard too. With just two years left on his Celtic deal, the Bhoys know his value will dwindle if he doesn’t extend.

News of Arsenal’s bid for Edouard comes amid claims of a surprise transfer exit for Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette has slipped down the pecking order under Arteta and looks likely to be offloaded.

As per RMC Sport, the player has been contacted by former club Lyon over a potential loan move.

Lyon’s sporting director Juninho Pernambucano is looking to sign a new striker and is also keen on Karim Benzema.

But with Real unlikely to sell Benzema this summer, Lyon could turn instead to Lacazette.

Lyon also tried to sign Lacazette in January without fail but could now find a resolution if they offer to include an obligation to buy.

Reports last month claimed Arsenal will offload Lacazette as soon as a new deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is confirmed.

Arsenal and Manchester City could go head-to-head in the battle to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has become one of Europe’s most coveted players in his position after his form last season. He impressed as his side knocked out Juventus and City in the Champions League.

Arsenal have already taken steps to try to land Aouar, with a swap deal failing. The Gunners offered Matteo Guendouzi, but Lyon chief Juninho said he immediately rejected the proposal.

Previous reports have also suggested Arsenal have had a £31.2million bid rejected by Lyon.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano (via ESPN) claims Arsenal are preparing a new bid for Aouar. Lyon have maintained that their star player has a £54million price tag on his head.

According to the Daily Mirror, however, Arsenal will not be alone in their efforts. City boss Pep Guardiola is also an admirer and could persuade his superiors to fund a move.

Aouar scored nine goals and laid on 10 others for Lyon last season.
