Qatari-based television network Al Jazeera's sports division BeIN Sports acquired Turkish satellite network Digiturk, according to news agency Reuters citing a statement from the companies. BeIN Media Group, which runs the beIN sports network of channels operating in Asia, Europe and the US, was in advanced talks to buy the Turkish network, Reuters reported in March citing three sources familiar with the matter. Digiturk acquired the rights for broadcasting Turkey's top soccer league until the end of the 2016-2017 season. No sale amount was mentioned in the companies' statement. Bloomberg wrote in June that beIN Sports would be ready to pay USD 1.5 billion for Digiturk.
