Spain added a further 345,000 pay-TV subscribers in the last three months of 2014, reaching 5.1 million subscribers, driven above all by multi-play convergent packages such as Telefonica’s Movistar Fusion offer. The latest quarterly figures released by Spain's communications regulator CNMC revealed that what it refers to as quintuple-play packages (with mobile and fixed telephony and broadband, plus pay-TV) grew by 303,000 customers in the fourth quarter to reach a total of 2.2 million subscriptions at year-end.

In terms of revenues, the audiovisual market as a whole increased by 9.4 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.09 billion in the fourth quarter, the first time the quarterly spend has passed EUR 1 billion since Q4 2012. The DTT sector accounted for EUR 518.7 million of the TV revenues, followed by satellite with EUR 304.1 million, IPTV with EUR 111.2 million and cable TV with EUR 51.0 million.
