Polish pay-TV firm Kino Polska TV S.A. Capital Group is claiming to have made an outstanding start to its 2015 financial year.

For the first quarter of 2015, the company generated a total income of PLN 4.6 million, a 41% increase compared with the first three months of 2014. Profit from operating activities, improved by lowering of costs, in the first quarter of 2015 amounted to PLN 5.3 million. This was around a third higher than in the first quarter of 2014. EBIDTA margin for the period of January to March 2015 reached PLN 9.8 million, an18% increase year-on-year.

Profits were significantly driven by revenue of PLN 27.5 million, itself up 14% year-on-year.

The rising revenues were predominantly driven by an 8% increase in the FilmBox brand and thematic channels broadcast revenue as well as from the higher revenue obtained from licence sales.

What was described as significant growth in the viewership of the Kino Polska Muzyka and FilmBox Basic channels also had an impact on the increase of the Group’s revenue. Business from advertising was PLN 4.4 million in the first quarter of 2015, a 10% yearly rise. “We also have a new source of income - TV Okazje Sp. z o.o. In accordance with our expectations the teleshopping start-up has been performing very well,” added Boguslaw Kisielewski, Chairman of the Board at Kino Polska TV S.A. The pay-TV provider acquired 80% of the shares of TV Okazje in September 2014.
