Satellite operator Eutelsat used eight of its satellites to beam live and free coverage of the 30 April inauguration ceremony for the Milan Expo 2015 world fair, which runs until 15 October. The ceremony featuring singer Andrea Bocelli took place in Milan’s Piazza Duomo and was filmed in High Definition by state broadcaster Rai, with uplinking services provided by Globecast. The satellite operator has also produced an Ultra HD video of Giotto’s famous frescos in the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi, including scenes of food and nature that reflect the main theme of the world fair: ““Feeding the Planet. Energy for Life”.
Eutelsat is joining forces with Globecast, Rai and Telecom Italia to provide turnkey services to companies, country pavilions, organisations and broadcasters during the six-month event, allowing them to deliver immediate coverage of Milan Expo news to audiences around the world. The Expo 2015 fair is expected to attract around 20 million visitors as well as exhibitors from around 145 countries.
