The Iraqi Media Network (IMN), Iraq's state broadcaster, has installed a new master control system from Imagine Communications to deliver two more HD channels and boost workflow and productivity.

The Baghdad-based channel playout and content management systems allow IMN to provide its latest HD channels Al Iraqiya News and Al Iraqiya Turkmen, targeted at the Turkmen community in Iraq since its December 2014 launch. These are in addition to IMN's existing multichannel offering which already utilises technology supplied by Imagine Communications.

The master control system was implemented in conjunction with local systems integrator AV Solutions.

"The existing systems deployed at IMN were dependable and flexible, and we had no hesitation to recommend extending them to gain the additional functionality and capacity required by the broadcaster," said Zaid Wattar, managing director, AV Solutions Home.

"The project also allowed IMN to install the latest servers, master control and playout technology, ensuring the best operational workflows and business efficiency."

The new installation combines Nexio AMP transmission servers, Nexio Farad high-performance, scalable, online storage, and Platinum signal routing and distribution solutions, all controlled by ADC channel playout automation.

"Broadcasters today are eager to deploy more content across more devices in less time," said Mathias Eckert, vice president, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Imagine Communications.

"Our flexible, scalable, software-based architecture enables broadcasters like IMN to more quickly and efficiently produce, distribute and manage their media, all while protecting their current investments and supporting new delivery platforms going forward."
