    Russian station set to merge
    September 9, 2013 11.41 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Moscow-based TV stations Moskovya and TV Center are now ready to be merged.
Kommersant reports that this follows a vote by the Moscow City Government.
TV Center, which is 99.31% owned by the city government, has shared the same frequency as Moskovya for a number of years.
The latter, which has been known as Channel 3, has recently seen several changes of ownership.
It was backed by Sistema from 2011 until July last year by Sistema, when the company sold its stake to the Central Oil Company for an undisclosed fee.
It has been wholly owned by city authorities since October 2012.

Pace goes for the whole home
    September 9, 2013 11.22 Europe/London By Julian Clover

IBC 2013: 1.B19. Pace is to show IBC visitors a pre-integrated, open platform for the multiscreen, connected home.
The ‘Whole Home’ solution enables service providers to distribute linear pay-TV services and on demand content to connected set-top boxes, tablets, smartphones, games consoles and connected TVs throughout the home.
“Subscribers want TV technology that simply works, is invisible and instant, with an intuitive and consistent user experience across multiple devices,” commented Shane McCarthy, President of Pace International. ”Discovery, playback, pause and resume should be effortless. Operators need technology platforms that are standards-based, flexible and free from vendor lock-in; that can quickly and easily be integrated into existing pay-TV headends with minimal disruption. The positive reaction of our customers to our ‘Whole Home’ solutions points to the fact that this delivers on both scores.”
Pace has both a pre-integrated hardware and software solution designed to reduce the cost and complexity of whole home deployments. Its Elements software platform then provides operators with a toolkit to deliver the services.

Focus Sat drops Pro TV services
    September 9, 2013 11.20 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Pro TVThe Romanian DTH platform Focus Sat has stopped distributing channels operated by the national commercial broadcaster Pro TV.
Mediaexpres reports that Pro TV has responded by publishing a list of 250 cable operators that still carry their channels.
It has also suggested to viewers that they also use other methods to receive the channels, including via analogue or digital terrestrial TV, where available.
Significantly, the dispute between the two parties does not affect UPC’s cable operation in Romania, which like Focus Sat is backed by Liberty Global.
Nor does it affect all the Viacom’s MTV Romania, which is also distributed Pro TV.
The channels affected are Pro TV, Acasa TV, Pro Cinema, Acasa Gold, sport.ro and Pro TV international.
