    August 26, 2013 10.55 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

4Fun MediaThe Polish music TV channel operator 4fun Media has posted first half revenues of PLN16,297,000 (€3,850,440), or 5% more than in the corresponding period last year.
However, its net profit fell by 21% – from PLN5,040,000 to PLN4,123,000 – over the same period.
The company notes that its audience figures in Q2 was lower than the record ones in 2012 and were impacted on by a fall in the TV ad market by several percentage points.
4fun Media’s results were also affected by such factors as an increase in transmission costs, and marketing expenses due to increased competition from other operators of music channels.
The company currently operates three channels – 4fun.TV, RBL.TV and TV Disco – and all increased their technical coverage in the year to June 30.
In terms of audience share, the three channels achieved a record AMR 26,700 in Q1 but failed to achieve the same figure in Q2 as in the same period last year.
However, average AMR in H1 was 24,096, significantly higher than the 21,890 posted a year earlier.

    Spanish TV advertising losing efficacy
    Juan Fernandez Gonzalez | 27-08-2013

A total of 20,418 adverts were broadcast every day by Spain's TV channels during Q2 2013, but on average each viewer only watched 64 of these, according to Zenith Media's latest report with Kantar Media data.
This underlines the tendency that widespread advertising campaigns with a low segmentation level are losing effectiveness with audiences which are getting used to more concrete publicity techniques.
The income for advertising is decreasing, but this isn't because the number of ads is lower. Indeed, Spanish channels scheduled 6.1% ad spots during Q2 but the impact of them, measured by gross rating points (GRP), fell by 5.5%. What should be positive data pointing to a recovering ad market in Spain, actually suggests that these efforts may be going in the wrong direction.
Nearly two million ads in three months weren't enough to convince more viewers. However, the numbers are still better than the 0.2% fall in Q1 2013, when some analysts pointed out that the industry might be ready to take off again.
Four more hours of ads were scheduled every day compared to Q2 2012, and prime time is still the slot with the highest impact. However, only 2.3% of adverts broadcast are watched, with Telecinco being the most effective channel, followed by Antena 3, La Sexta and Cuatro.
Regarding viewers' loyalty, the report shows that La Sexta has the most loyal audience – 34% leave the channel in the ads breaks – followed by Antena 3, Telecinco, Cuatro and the regional channels.

Mediapro brings Barça TV to Asia
    Parent Category: News | 27-08-2013

Total Sports Asia (TSA) and Mediapro have signed an agreement to bring the FC Barcelona channel Barça TV to Asia to meet the increasing demand for Barça's football content in the region.
The bases of the deal were set during the team's tour at the beginning of August, according to Diario Gol.
This is the first time that Mediapro has sold the entire rights of the channel to be broadcast abroad. While the deal means the team increases its presence in one of the biggest markets worldwide, the Malaysian company gets exclusive rights to distribute Barça TV through various operators.
Since the channel was launched in 1999, this is the first time it will be watched abroad at the same time as in Spain. Until now, Barça TV sold content slots which were distributed after being broadcast.
"We are proud of having the opportunity to work with a worldwide sport icon such as Barça is, and the Asian channels will have the opportunity to broadcast the most attractive side of football," said Julian Jackson, content manager at TSA.
Lately Mediapro has been increasing Real Madrid TV's distribution, making the channel available free-to-air through the Internet.

Internet grows, but Argentinians still get news from TV
    Parent Category: News | 27-08-2013

The Internet is growing as an information source for Argentinians, but it's still far below TV, according to the latest Ibope Media survey, reported by todotvnews.com and iprofesional.com.
In 2012, online news consumption grew seven points, with 58% of people using the Internet to get information. But 92% of people watched the news on free-to-air TV and 74% used a pay-TV platform, placing TV as the most trusted media in Argentina.
Traditional media are clearly falling and while the radio is still close to the Internet (56%), newspapers are way down, being an information source for only 39% of Argentinians.
The Ibope Media report also shows that improved networks have made the Internet available for inland districts as well. The federal capital and Gran Buenos Aires have 57% Internet penetration while the rural areas grew to 59%, figures which were very different just a few years ago. In 2000, 64% of Internet users were classed as having a high economic level and 24% medium, while now the figures are low (37%), high (32%) and medium (31%).
